Campaign of the Month: February 2022
Dresden Files Accelerated: Emerald City: Requiem
Capitol Hill
DESCRIPTION
Known as the center of Seattle’s counterculture and LGTB communities it also houses “millionaire’s row” on 14th Avenue E. South of Volunteer Park.
Most of the Hill’s major thoroughfares are dotted with coffeehouses, taverns and bars, and residences cover the gamut from modest motel-like studio apartment buildings to some of the city’s grandest and most venerable mansions, with the two extremes sometimes shoulder-to-shoulder. The neighborhood figures prominently in nightlife and entertainment, with many bars hosting live music and with numerous fringe theatres. At night enthusiastic (and at times eccentric or even supernatural) people fill the streets enjoying the diverse entertainment and the culture of openness and acceptance. It is perhaps because of that spirit of openness that Capitol Hill is the home to one of the largest populations of Changelings, Minor Talents, Spirits and other supernatural beings to be found in North America.
THEME:
WHERE ALL THE COOL KIDS HANG
FACE:
Odianna of Winter
LOCATION: THE MASQUERADE PRIVATE CLUB
ASPECT: COOLER THAN THOU
One of the most popular night spots for supernaturals on Capitol Hill is a private club called the Masquerade. It is a three story establishment owned by Lady Odianna, Exiled Handmaiden of Winter, the Winterrose. The first floor is the most frequented area and open to mundanes and magical members alike with a large dance floor. The second floor often showcases live bands playing Jazz and Punk and everything in between. The top floor is open only to those who can see past the Glamours that protect it from mortal sight. It is where Odianna and other supernaturals can be themselves without worrying about mortal interference. As long as no mortal is permanently harmed on the grounds anything goes on the top floor.
Odianna is a Sidhe who moved into the area in the mid 1980s after being exiled by her family. It rumored that she chose the love of a mortal over her duty to the Fae. Her beauty is legendary and made all the more potent by the touch of melancholy that lurks in her dark eyes. Her constant companion is a Ogre named Mr. Squire who has sworn an oath of loyalty to Lady Odianna along with his entire clan. They do a very good job of keeping her night club safe from any overly enthusiastic patrons.
THEME:
ANYTHING GOES
FACE:
AUNT B Claire Redwood
LOCATION: EDGE OF THE CIRCLE BOOKS
Another popular location among the supernatural is Edge of the Circle books owned by the grandmotherly Beatrice Addison. The store is well stocked with old tomes on the supernatural. “Aunt B” is a former Army nurse who served in Viet Nam. After witnessing the countless horrors of war she returned to the States and dropped out of the mundane world altogether. She opened up her bookstore and was struck immediately by all those in the supernatural community who had no one to turn to when they were injured or lost. She reached out to them and has mended many a broken wing over the years. She is well known and respected throughout the supernatural community for her strong willed toughness and mandate to help those in need. She has many admirers who would not take well to seeing her harmed.
UPDATE:
Aunt B has left the bookstore in the care of her favorite apprentice, Claire Redwood, leaving her better able to focus on helping the multitude of victims of the quake.
THEME:
A CLINIC FOR THE SUPERNATURAL
FACE:
Aunt B
ASPECT: WE SHALL OVERCOME
LOCATION: THE RADCLIFFE CLINIC
When Trevor Radcliffe offered to let Aunt B run his newly built Radcliffe Clinic on Capitol Hill she didn’t hesitate to take the job. She has worked tirelessly ever since to alleviate the suffering caused on Black Monday. The clinic has become something of a neutral ground to all supernaturals and it is well known that any violence will not be tolerated in or near the facility. However, Aunt B has noted that several supernaturals have gone missing in recent days and is wondering if they are somehow connected.
