DESCRIPTION:

Trendy cafes, neighborhood pubs and unique shops have made Ballard a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike. Stores range from home design shops that focus on “green living” to the latest in chic apparel. Visitors can find a wide range of ethnic restaurants in Ballard, from popular Thai cuisine to upscale dining. The community of Ballard is also known for its Golden Garden Park, with its panoramic views of the Olympic Mountains, sandy beaches and winding forest trails. The park includes an off-leash dog park, fishing pier and boat launch.

Ballard is one of Seattle’s oldest neighborhoods and was settled by Danish and Finish immigrants in the mid 1800s. Today, its Scandinavian roots are reflected in its historic landmarks and attractive winding streets. Those roots make Ballard a perfect place for a growing number of Scions of the Norse Gods as well as Frost Giants, Einherjar and other creatures.

The Nordic Heritage Museum shares Nordic culture with people of all ages and backgrounds by exhibiting art and objects, preserving collections, providing educational and cultural experiences, and serving as a community gathering place. Singard Jarlson is the Curator of the Museum and an active member of the Ballard Community. He is also over 1,000 years old.

He was chosen by Odin’s Valkyries and lived in Valhalla fighting and dying every day alongside the other heroes training for Ragnarock. No one knows how or why he left the Einherjar or what kind of deal he struck with the All Father but all who know him respect his knowledge and note his unfailing sense of humor. He is now married with 6 children and another on the way. Despite his massive size it seems that he is aging like a normal mortal since his return to Earth and displays no supernatural abilities aside from a knowledge of Norse Runes. This doesn’t prevent him from keeping an eye on Eric Laufey and his Frost Giant friends.

Eric Laufey, scion of Loki, is a happy go lucky and playful young man who delights in causing mischief. To date his pranks and jokes have all been mostly harmless and he delights in causing Singard Jarlson’s hair to grey prematurely with his antics. Recently he has been seen in the company of Umik Kin-giant and his Frost Giant friends and has caused several incidents including almost releasing Fenrir from his chains. He works as a used car salesmen at Ballard Motors where he can play the most delightful tricks. Jarlson is worried that Eric’s endless pranks could cause significant harm if he is not careful.

KEY ASPECT: MYSTERIOUS MONOC EXECUTIVE

Given the recent events of BLACK MONDAY and the shift in power that resulted the Aesir have decided the city of Seattle has become an increasingly dangerous place that needs close monitoring. Perhaps the All Father has recognized that his son, Leif Wotensen, is becoming a catalyst of Fate in the region and he wishes to monitor him and control him. Or perhaps he is simply expressing his fatherly concern for a wayward son. Whatever the case he has dispatched Rolf Helgarson as regional head of Monoc Imports to operate out of the Ballard Docks. Helgarson’s ultimate agenda is unknown but he is a powerful presence and has already petitioned for a seat on the Emerald City Conclave.
